See Tullie's boxes - on the box!

Cumberland News, Kate Rees

Tullie House

One of Tullie House's most popular exhibitions this year will feature on the perennially popular BBC children's TV programme Blue Peter today. Celebrating Boxes, which started at Tullie House in September, showcases the talents of more than 60 box-makers from 13 countries around the world. Some of the exhibits are functional, some fantastical – but all of them prove that there is more to a box than five sides and a lid. The exhibition is about to start a national tour of museums and galleries at London's trendy Oxo Tower, on the South Bank. Mick North, arts development manager at Tullie House said: "I think that what attracted Blue Peter was that it was going to such a prestigious place as the Oxo complex. They thought that it would fit in with the programme. It's quite childlike in its appeal – it's very family-friendly."
